Frequently Asked Questions About Onity

The Onity access ecosystem supports multiple credential formats including RFID cards, MIFARE Plus® enhanced-security RFID, mobile credentials via DirectKey™ Bluetooth technology, key fobs and wristbands.

The specific credential options depend on the lock model deployed. Trillium RFID locks support standard RFID card technology, while DirectKey-enabled locks allow guests and residents to use their smartphones as digital keys through the mobile app. OnPortal™ software provides centralized management for all credential types, allowing facility staff to create, assign and revoke access permissions remotely. This multi-credential approach helps properties support diverse user preferences while maintaining security and operational flexibility.

MIFARE Plus is a registered trademark of NXP Semiconductors N.V.

Comprehensive Property Management

Enables unified management of online locks across a property by integrating Bluetooth and cellular technology into a robust IoT network. This centralized system helps improve security and access control while reducing complexity and saving time for hotel operators in managing locks. Customized Guest Experience

Hotels can offer personalized experiences to guests, such as mobile room control and mobile access. These enhancements can lead to increased guest satisfaction and loyalty.

Advanced Insights

Onity facilitates the collection and analysis of data from various hotel systems. This data can be leveraged to make informed business decisions, improve energy management and improve service offerings based on guest preferences and behaviors.

OnPortal lock management system is designed to support phased upgrades and mixed installations, allowing properties to transition from legacy systems while maintaining operational continuity. The platform supports various encoder types including legacy HT22 encoders, RFID encoders and motorized encoders through optional IP hubs. This flexibility helps properties integrate newer DirectKey-enabled locks alongside existing hardware, reducing the need for system replacement.

Properties can upgrade high-traffic areas first while keeping legacy locks in other zones, then expand mobile access capabilities over time as budget and operational priorities allow. Onity project management and technical support teams assist with planning upgrade paths that align with facility requirements and reduce disruption to daily operations.
