Meet a #futureshaper: Tereza Toufarova

Continuing down the path of her father, uncles, grandfather and grandmother, Tereza Toufarova always knew she would become an engineer.

But engineering is not her only passion. She also conducts a choir.

Both backgrounds play a vital role in her ability to successfully coordinate all the work from various teams across the globe.

She must do this to make sure that aircraft cockpit functions meet the requirements of certification authorities, like the Federal Aviation Administration.

Based in Brno, Czech Republic; here is her #futureshaper story.

What brought you to Honeywell?

My schoolmate (now husband) had been approached by Honeywell to work on aircrafts. As fate would have it, a couple months later I decided to join that effort on the avionics software development.

What gets you excited about going to work every day?

The impact I have on the future of technology and people’s everyday lives.

What do you do?

The aircraft cockpit has many boxes with various functions – radio, navigation, help with landing, autopilot, microphone, which captains use to welcome passengers on board. Each of those boxes are being made by different Honeywell teams. I am responsible for coordinating the work of all the teams around the world to ensure everything functions together in a safe and accurate manner. I am also responsible for showing certification authorities (i.e. FAA, European Union Aviation Safety Agency) everything complies with certification requirement which will give clearance for products to “fly”.

In your eyes, what qualities does a #futureshaper possess?

Imagination, persistence, ability to develop a team of talented people who can deliver ideas.

What advice would you give someone who wants to follow in your footsteps?

Do not follow anyone’s footsteps, they will not fit you, make your own.

When you are not working, what do you do for fun?
Conduct a choir and make model trains.
