Meet a #futureshaper: Jim Ling

Sustainability will be paramount for the future, says Honeywell lead scientist Jim Ling.

“The environmental impact of products will be closely monitored,” he said.

Based in Buffalo, New York; here is his #futureshaper story.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?  

A cashier. I used to love going grocery shopping with my mother when I was a kid, only because I was fascinated by the “ding-ding-ding” and “beep-beep-beep” sound of a cash register.

What brought you to Honeywell?

The brand! Interesting fact: Before I joined Honeywell, I thought it was a thermostat company. I did not know Honeywell was such a huge conglomerate with diverse businesses.

What gets you excited about going to work every day?

My cohesive and supportive team. We share the same vision and motivate each other. In fact, we are each a #futureshaper!

In your eyes, what qualities does a #futureshaper possess?

A #futureshaper has endless passion when it comes to what they believe in. Their charismatic personality inspires and motivates others to turn the impossible to possible. Most importantly, a #futureshaper embraces teamwork and celebrates wins with their team on every success along the way.

What advice would you give someone who wants to follow in your footsteps?

Be very open, you never know what opportunity will come your way. Always be prepared for a new, exciting adventure.

When you are not working, what do you do for fun?

Travel!! From an adventurous mountain hike in Northern Thailand, leisure road trip in Southern Australia, exciting shopping spree in London, to relaxing resort stay in the Caribbean, I love to experience local cultures and taste authentic cuisines. My next destination: Morocco!
