Li-ion Tamer Gen2+ Sensor Receives California State Fire Marshal Listing
In early January 2025, Li-ion Tamer’s Gen2+ sensor received a listing with the California State Fire Marshal.
Steve Cummings
January 15, 2025
As we have seen in the past week, fire is a near-daily risk in California. There is no predicting when or where a fire may start or spread. Every precaution is taken to ensure that products, industries, and organizations meet and comply with stringent fire codes and regulations so we do not see the type of destruction that has taken place in Los Angeles this week.
Nexceris and the Li-ion Tamer business take their responsibility for compliance very seriously. They seek to garner proper approval from all necessary authorities at every turn. In early January 2025, Li-ion Tamer’s Gen2+ sensor received a listing with the California State Fire Marshal.
A California State Fire Marshal (CSFM) listing is vital for a product, especially in construction, safety, and fire protection, as it indicates that the product has been evaluated and approved for compliance with California’s rigorous fire safety standards. This is significant because it ensures:
- Fire safety compliance: The CSFM tests products for fire resistance and safety features. A product with this listing meets specific fire prevention, containment, and suppression requirements.
- Regulatory requirements: California law requires many buildings to use fire-rated materials and products that have passed testing by the CSFM. Without this listing, the product might not meet local building codes and could be rejected by authorities during construction or renovation projects.
- For businesses, a CSFM-listed product is more than just a mark of compliance. It’s a powerful risk mitigation tool, providing assurance that the product will perform as expected in preventing or containing fire, thereby protecting people, assets, and property.
- Marketability and trust: Products with a CSFM listing are generally considered safer and more reliable, making them more marketable. Consumers and contractors prefer certified products because of their known safety standards, increasing their credibility in a competitive market.
- Insurance and liability: Insurance companies may offer lower premiums for buildings that use CSFM-listed products because they are less likely to contribute to the spread of fire. Conversely, using non-compliant products could raise premiums or lead to issues with claims if a fire occurs.
- Code compliance and approval: For contractors and architects, using products that are CSFM-listed helps ensure that they are meeting fire safety regulations required for building permits, occupancy approvals, and inspections.
A CSFM listing is a mark of fire safety certification that guarantees the product complies with state fire codes and regulations. It is not only essential for safety and legal compliance but also significantly enhances the market success of the Li-ion Tamer Gen2+ sensor, especially in fire-prone areas like California.
